I’m a member of a website called BzzAgent (bzzagent.com). This website allows you to join campaigns, and as a BzzAgent, try out products/services, share them with others, review them, etc. A recent campaign I joined was a Maybelline one that featured two products: Maybelline Great Lash Lots of Lashes and Baby Lips Repairing Lip Balm. I’m loving both! I will give my review on the lip balm later, but for now, I’ll review the mascara.
I’m pretty picky with mascara. There are few brands that I like. I’ve found that price is not an indicator on how good a mascara will be. I am loyal to a few drugstore mascaras — they’re great and pretty cheap! Some other expensive ones are just not for me. For example, I LOVE MAC makeup, but I dislike their mascara — it doesn’t do anything for me.
Anyway, if you’re looking for a good drugstore mascara, or just a good mascara overall, I recommend this one. It added volume, definition and length to my lashes — I love when a mascara can do all 3! Below is a picture of me wearing mascara just on one eye…you can clearly tell the difference. It doesn’t get clumpy, it comes off easily with makeup remover but it does not rub off through out the day (some mascaras seem to look GREAT when you apply it and it will be mostly gone in a few hours). So, this is a great mascara that I’d recommend to anyone.
Verdict: Maybelline Great Lash Lots of Lashes Mascara is great and I highly recommend it!

Product Review: L’OREAL Carbon Black Extra-Intense Liquid Pencil Eyeliner
What a long product name! Anyway, I came across this eyeliner at Ulta the other day and remembered reading about it in a magazine, so I thought I’d try it out. Eyeliner is huge for me — I wear it daily. My two big things with eyeliner is that it needs to last and it needs to be bold/intense. Well, this eyeliner definitely meets both of those requirements. It is a dark black and is definitely intense. You can choose to obviously make it more or less intense depending on how thick you apply the line. But it definitely lasts ALL day. I have not had to reapply it once in the few weeks I’ve used it. I even used it on a few bridesmaids at a wedding I did makeup for recently, and it looked great!
So, as far as the pros: It looks great, it lasts long, it doesn’t really smudge, and it’s intense/bold. As far as the cons, I don’t really have many. The eyeliner glides on easily and is kind of creamy when you apply it, so it dulls down easily meaning you’ll have to sharpen it daily. Not necessarily a con for me, but just an FYI. Because it does dull down a bit, I usually do the outer corners of my eyes first because I usually do the little wing at the end of my eyes. So, I do that when the eyeliner is the sharpest. But truly a great product — I recommend. It is about $8-9.
Tip: If it is too creamy for you when you apply it, use an angled brush. Run the brush over the eyeliner and apply. This is how I applied it to the bridesmaids I tried it on and it looked fabulous!
A friend recently told me that Fairydrops Scandal Queen Mascara was now available at Sephora. Her words were: OMG. Buy.It.Now. Well, she sold me on it! It doesn’t take much to convince me to try new makeup products, but she just seemed so amazed by it. I looked it up (I had never heard of it), and apparently it’s a mascara from Japan. The Fairydrops mascara was created by Japanese TV personality Aya Yasuda. The mascara wand is supposed to be so amazing that it is patented in Japan. The Scandal Queen formula is sold exclusively in the U.S. So, I am planning on trying it — I love mascara! I will let you guys know what I think.

I recently decided to try out Birchbox. Birchbox delivers a box of beauty samples to your door every month for just $10/month. When I initially heard about it, I checked out their website and the main photo on their homepage showed a sample box with makeup items by Nars, Stila, Cargo, Laura Geller and more. They had some other beauty samples such as hair products, lotions and more, but even those seemed great. I expected to be fully satisfied with this new service. So, it seemed worth it and I immediately signed up.
Well, I’ve received two Birchboxes thus far and I have to say I am not convinced or entirely satisfied. The products I received didn’t really seem very useful for me, personally. I just wasn’t impressed overall. I’ve tried 2 of the samples I received and they were good enough.
The products included in the first box were:
-blinc Mascara
-Harvey Prince Eau Flirt - Lavender Pumpkin
-Incoco Nail Polish Applique - in a leopard print
-Jouer Lip Enhancer
-The Lash Card - cards shaped to fit over your eye & cover your eyelid to avoid mascara getting all over your eyelid.
The products included in the second box were:
-Ahava Rich Cleansing Cream
-BeFine BeLips Lip Serum
-Laura Geller Spackle Tinted Makeup Primer in Bronze
-Orofluido Elixir - Hair serum
-The Laundress Delicate Wash - detergent
That being said, I’m just not impressed. The blinc Mascara was actually decent. I tried it out a couple of times. The mascara acts as little tubes that are applied to your eyelashes so that it lasts longer. The BeFine lip serum was also decent — but it was just like any other lip gloss/lip balm in my opinion. I will probably try the Orofluido lip serum, but I’m not interested in laundry detergent, leopard print nail polish appliques, or lip enhancers, personally. I may also try the bronze makeup primer at some point too, mostly to see if my clients would like it. I’m not much of a bronze gal.
So, conclusion: It’s okay but not worth it for *me* personally. I’ll do it for one more month and if I don’t receive some makeup or beauty samples that are better than the first two boxes, I’ll probably end up canceling. It may be worth a try for you, though, if any of the above samples interest you. It just depends on personal preference and what you’re looking for.
